About Neil Young - Technical Team Leader & Full Stack Developer

Neil Young - Technical Team LeaderMy passion for the World Wide Web started when I was 14. I started building websites pushing the boundaries of HTML, CSS & Javascript. Having caught the web development bug I went to university to get my Batchelor of Science in Multimedia Technology at De Montfort University in Leicester where I applied my learnings in Java, Java Server Pages, Javascript, PHP & MySQL.

After graduating from university I helped my new company achieve a complete rework of their company website to allow all their products and services to be database driven using the open source languages PHP and MySQL. This drove more traffic to their site and allowed staff to easily update their products.

I am now a Technical Team Leader and full stack developer working at Substance Global in East London working for clients such as HBO, Hasbro, Fox and Warner Brothers on many exciting and challenging executions. My range of projects include anything from a simple Facebook application to a fully responsive website.

My development skills include the following:

LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL & PHP)
Object Oriented & MVC Based PHP (Custom Framework, Laravel, Zend, CodeIgniter)
Javascript (including JQuery, AngularJS & Backbone.js)
CSS/SCSS/SASS/LESS/Stylus (Responsive Web Design)
Testing: phpUnit/Jasmine/Karma/Protractor
CMS Solutions (Custom Builds, Expression Engine, Craft)

This is the home of my expertise. Ranging from blog posts about new technologies to project case studies that explain the challenges we faced and how we overcame them!
